Block Printing with Fabric Paint

In this video I show you how to do block printing with fabric paint, stamping on card and fabric with carved wooden blocks. My starter pack is from block craft (https://theartycraftyplace.co.uk/product-category/block-craft/) who stock all kinds of lovely blocks and fabric paints.

First you need to place the surface you’re printing on (card or fabric) on the foam pad. The blocks are solid wood so you need to stamp against something with a bit of give (the foam). Pour your paint into the tray then apply it to the stamp with a sponge for an even covering. Press the block firmly down on the card or fabric to make the print. The paint dries quickly but be careful not to get it anywhere you don’t want it! You can use a single image as a feature on a card, or stamp multiple times to create a pattern. You can also mix together different designs and colours. In this video I’ve gone for a repeated apple print design in red and green on my tea towel.

Once the paint is dry on your fabric, you will need to heat-set it if you want it to be washable. Just iron over the back on a medium setting. Clean your blocks with soapy water and leave to air dry.
