Hi everyone, in my docrafts design team kit this month I received the Papermania Butterfly Dreams Card Compendium which I’ve had my eye on. It’s a very pink and girly set bursting with butterflies, but I do like working with pastel colours! Here are a few of the cards I’ve made so far.
You get 12 A6 size butterfly-shaped card blanks in the compendium in three different colours. At first I wasn’t quite sure how to decorate them, but once I started adding bits it all worked out! There’s another design here in my docrafts gallery. The ‘dream’ stamp in the bottom corner is from the new Creativity Essentials ‘Inspirational Sentiments’ stamps set.
For this card I die cut a honeycomb background piece from the Xcut Bee Keeping die set to add a bit of variety and texture. The alphabet stickers come in the compendium and I have inked the edges of each one here in chocolate dye ink to make them stand out a little better.
One of my favourite things that comes in the pack is these die cut frames with butterflies where you can fold the wings forwards. They make a lovely feature on the card. Again I’ve used the honeycomb die but this time with kraft card, and I really wanted to try out the chipboard alphabet stickers so I added a name to the front this time instead of a sentiment.
This card has a lot more depth and texture to it and took longer to make. I wanted to go for a shabby chic feel so I’ve used crochet lace and ribbon in the background and torn the edges of the cream paper panel for a distressed look. Everything is layered on to one of the pre-printed card blanks that come in the compendium and I really like the ditsy floral design. I’ve used the other half of the honeycomb die cut from above in the background. I built up the heart decoupage on foam squares and added the letters on top, backed with punched scalloped circles. I added a bow to finish off and some pearls.
