Hey folks, this week I’ve had a chance to get a bit of cardmaking done with the pretty Chalkboard range from Craftwork Cards. I bought this on offer a while back from The Glitter Pot (one of my new fave online shops) – it was £9.99 for the Chalkboard Collection Pack which comes with the 8×8 paper pad, die cut sheets and candi.
I made this card following a sketch on Pinterest. First I tore the paper to size by scoring it and then tearing along a ruler to give a rough edge. I distressed the edges a little more with a craft knife and added black dye ink. I wrapped twine round the paper and knotted it, then attached the panel to the card with foam tape to make it stand forward. Then I just added the die cut sentiment, frames and bow on top and candi top left.
For this card I also followed a sketch I found on Pinterest. I like just opening up the homepage and picking the first thing that catches my eye to use for inspiration. Of course my Pinterest feed is full of nothing but glorious craft projects so this isn’t hard! I always end up deviating quite far from the original sketch but it doesn’t matter – they’re there to get you started!
So here I started by stamping the background with a music sheet stamp from Lili of the Valley in black dye ink (dye ink dries quickest which is great if, like me, you smudge your stamping ALL the time). I then added a couple of banners cut from the Chalkboard papers, plus a sentiment mounted on to cream cardstock and inked with brown dye ink. I then added candi below and a punched butterfly with gems over a twine bow. I rounded the corners of the card with the Xcut Corner Punch. Such a handy piece of kit!
For this card I began with a sketch but abandoned it pretty quickly and just stuck what I wanted where I wanted! I added a panel of white cardstock to a kraft card blank and then a couple of Chalkboard paper panels on top. I cut out arrows from the paper and attached them above and below, and then added the sentiment and extra die cut bits, plus a bit more card candi and some pretty silver gems. I love these tiny 2mm gems. They’re so dainty!
