Hi everyone, welcome to our blog hop today which is to say goodbye to the current docrafts design team. The new team is being announced today but I have not reapplied this time as I’ve decided to focus on new projects including my YouTube video channel and the Craft Consortium design team.
I joined the docrafts design team in October 2013 when I’d only been making cards for a year or two and I was absolutely over the moon to be picked. I felt like they’d taken a chance on me as I was new to crafting and didn’t know many techniques, but in the two years and four months I’ve been on the team I’ve learned loads and been sent so many beautiful products to craft with as well as made some wonderful craft friends.
Of all the DT projects I sent in, here are some of my favourites.
This was the very first card I made when I joined the team using download papers from the Capsule Collection. I was actually inspired by Heather who had joined the design team at the same time as me and had just made a fab Capsule card with circles on it and I wanted to try them out too.
This was the first time I’d tried making a 3D project and I was really happy with the way the basket turned out as I’d made the template from scratch. I also made a second little petal shaped basket which is featured on my blog header and it brings back happy crafting memories whenever I look at it. Again these were download papers (part of the collection is available here) which I always thought I wouldn’t like working with but some of my best projects have been with download papers.
This card uses the masculine Heritage Press range which I enjoyed crafting with when it came out as male cards can make a nice change from flowers and butterflies! The design of this card was inspired by one of Becky James‘s cards. She’s a wonderful designer and I really like her style. My card was also featured in docrafts Creativity magazine – it was the first time I’d seen one of my cards in print and I was just so thrilled to see it there on the page!
For this project I again tried something new – a bit of home decor – and made a Christmas decoration with Bare Basics wooden shapes, Artiste acrylic paints, berries, die cut holly and a bow. Part of the reason I like this project so much is because the pictures came out so well when I photographed it in the garden, plus it was a quick and simple project which I always like.
After these my favourite ranges of 2015 were Bellissima, Owl Folk and Folk Floral.
Phew! I know that’s rather a lot considering this is meant to be the highlights but counting them up there were over 100 DT projects so there was a lot to choose from!
I just want to say thank you to my teamies over the past couple of years for being a great source of fun and inspiration, and a huge thank you to docrafts for keeping me on the design team for so long. Especially Jill Pryor who organised our DT at the beginning and received each of my projects with so much praise and enthusiasm it really encouraged me to keep going and to get better. I wish the new team the best of luck and can’t wait to see their makes with the new ranges.
Next please do hop along to the next stop, Amy’s blog, and I hope you enjoy seeing everyone’s favourite projects :) x
