Hello! While I’ve been off over Christmas I have been testing out my new embossing folders in the Sizzix Big Shot machine. I had my eye on this Couture Creations Tea Party one for a while because it’s so cute and Alice in Wonderland-y.
I tested it out here on some pale blue pearlescent card and I think it has come out very well! Though his type of card isn’t ideal for embossing it appears, as you can see where the card has bent a little near some of the embossed bits.
The next folders I tried out were the Sizzix ones, that came in a set below. These are designed specifically to go with the Big Shot so I was hoping for good results, and I got them!
This set contains two embossing folders – the flowery nordic pattern and the gingerbread man frame – and a snowman die. I bought these from the Country View Crafts website here for £8.99, which isn’t tooooo bad considering that most embossing folders seem to cost around £5 each, and dies even more.
The embossing came out well and the die worked perfectly and didn’t need a lot of messing around with like some do (more on that in my next post!). The final set of embossing folders that I wanted to mention is the Cuttlebug ‘Love’s in the Air’ set that contains 6 embossing folders for only £9.99 (again from Country View Crafts here). This is a total bargain and the folders work brilliantly.
Although these are designed for the Cuttlebug they work perfectly in the Big Shot as they are such similar machines. You can see the results of the love heart folder on the card in my last post, but here are a few of the others.
They look better in person than in the pic (it was getting darker and darker outside as I was trying to take pictures!) but the ‘live laugh love’ one came out really well – it’s probably one of my faves – and would be good for Valentine’s cards. Next time, more on die cutting!
