This week I have been crafting with my new Floral Phrases stamps and Detailed Floral Thinlits dies from Stampin’ Up. I wasn’t sure whether to order this set at first but the more I looked at it the more I liked it, and I have seen so many beautiful makes with the set on Pinterest I just had to get it! The cards I’ve put together are all quick ones so I’d like to have a go at something more elaborate when I have time.
For this card I went for something really simple and just stamped the flower motif and sentiments on to a Crumb Cake card blank using Night of Navy ink, then tied a simple loop of twine round the spine.
For this card again I was just testing out the stamps on white cardstock and I just love how the flower looks like it has different shades and textures in it. I stamped the border on the base of the card, added gems and then added the stamped panel on top with foam tape so it stands forward on the card.
I’m not quite as happy with this card. I’ve used the Detailed Floral Thinlits die for the bottom pattern and little rectangle with stamped sentiment on top, which I think looks nice, but then I decided to have a go with my banner stamp and dies from the Fiesta sets and I don’t think they work as well. Maybe it’s the way I’ve angled it or maybe it’s just the fact that they don’t really go with the floral theme but too late now, they’re stuck on!
Here I’ve used both parts of the thinlits die to make the background – I really like the effect – and added a stamped panel on top. The grey cardstock is Stampin’ Up Smoky Slate cardstock which is a really nice colour and goes well with the white and navy. I didn’t really want to cover up the floral motif with the sentiment but I couldn’t put the sentiment anywhere else on the card without it looking a bit odd so I put it in the middle, but I think next time I’d just leave it off and have the flower in the centre.
For this card I was testing out making my own card blanks. I normally use pre-scored ones from a pack but making this A6 one myself was pretty easy and the Stampin’ Up cardstock is a good thickness for it. Again I used the Floral Phrases stamp set and this time paired it with some punched butterflies and a banner from the Fiesta dies set again.
