6 cool ways to use up your sequin stashHi StickerKitten fans! Laura here today sharing some ways to use up your sequin stash!
Idea 1: Shaker Pockets
These work well for cards and scrapbooks. The basics are cut a shape in your card or layout. Layer some acetate behind it. Add a boundary with double sided foam adhesive. Add sequins and cover with another sheet of card. Here I’ve cut words using my Silhouette Cameo and filled with rainbow coloured sequins.
Idea 2: Sequins in Texture Paste
This technique works well for canvasses but can also be used for cards and scrapbook pages too. Here I’ve used a small canvas and added a generous layering of texture paste. Whilst the paste is still wet cover the surface with sequins. As the paste dries it adheres the sequins to the surface and lots of shine and texture. (Using Mermaid Treasures sequins and papers.)
Idea 4: Sequin Explosion
This takes time and patience but uses a lot of sequins and has a big impact on a card or scrapbook page. Start off with a shape (I used a roll of washi tape to get my circle!) and add dots of wet glue around the edge. One by one add a sequin to each dot of glue. As you get further away from the shape leave bigger gaps between the sequins.
Idea 6: A Stripe of Sequins
This technique uses super sticky double sided tape. I’ve used a wide tape as the biggest star sequins are quite large. Add your sequins to the tape in descending order. When you’ve added your sequins add some chunky glitter and then some fine glitter to fill in any remaining gaps. Make sure you burnish the sequins and glitter on to the sticky tape by covering with a sheet of paper and rubbing firmly with a bone folder. (Using sequins from Unicorn Fairground and alpha stamps from Alpaca Wishes.)
I’m not sure if I should tell you this… after making these six projects my sequin stash doesn’t seem to have shrunk at all. I swear they multiply every time it gets dark!
