Shimmery Stencillingby Sarah GrayMarch 3, 2019 |

Hello,

It is Sarah G from the DT here to share an idea for using stencils in your cardmaking. I love working with stencils and the Scallop Pattern stencil from Sticker Kitten works beautifully with the Mermaid Treasures range! I decided to create a shimmery background to suit my underwater scene.

Instructions

I went over the stencil with Imagination Crafts Sparkle Paste in blues and greens to create a variegated look and set aside to dry.

I thought that the background would look too busy and decided to create some apertures for it to show through. I die cut several circles from a square of cardstock and stencilled over that with my bubbles stencil in Tumbled Glass distress oxide. I stamped the sentiment and sea weed on the panel and added mdf elements that had been painted with sparkle paint and jellyfish which had been stamped on to Mermaid Treasures patterned paper.

All of this was popped over the stencilled background on foam tape which adds further dimension to the scene.

Stencils are a great way to add texture and create backgrounds for your designs!
