Christmas Decor Workshop – Saturday 14th December 2024

When: Saturday 14th December 2024, 10.30am–1pm (2.5 hours)

Where: The Mulberry Bush, Unit 3A the Barns, Lower Henwick Farm, Thatcham, Berkshire, RG18 3AP. Parking is free right outside the shop.

Join workshop host Sylvia Roberts for this unique mixed-media Christmas crafting workshop creating a string of handmade decorative Christmas lights with a Vintage Nutcracker Sweet theme.

In this workshop we will be using a 20 LED Fairy Lights Battery Operated, 2M Mini String Lights set. We will create an array of Nutcracker Sweet resin characters and use a variety of craft mediums to decorate them. 

You will learn:

• mixed media techniques including how to cast moulds using a half hour ‘quick set’ resin
• how to insert a decorative bale (a holder to string your lights onto)
• how to use acrylic metallic paint
• how to add coloured waxes including silver or gold metallic wax to create highlights
• how to apply a Christmas/ nutcracker theme transfer to a bauble ( and seal it).

Your string of lights will have the following moulds:

• either a Sugar Plum fairy or The Ballerina, 
• Christmas sweets, 
• nutcracker guardsman, 
• gingerbread person, 
• the Mouse King or bauble, 
• snowflake, 
• a small bauble or cupcake, 
• Christmas tree, 
• clock, 
• Santa Clause,
• a drum or trumpet musical instrument.

I will bring some pre-cast moulded items so that we can work on decorating those whilst waiting for the ones we cast in class as it takes time to cure. 

You will take home a completed Christmas nutcracker themed set of string lights with moulded decorated figures attached which are ready to hang up or gift in time for the festive holidays. 

All materials supplied. 

N.B. Cast items are fragile and need care when handling. 

Tea, coffee and biscuits will also be provided to round off our fun and creative afternoon!
