StickerKitten on Hochanda – live on TV!May 28, 2017 |
Hi everyone, as I am sure lots of you have seen on my various social media feeds, StickerKitten on Hochanda was the hot topic for the past couple of weeks! We were really proud to be able to introduce our Bee Garden range to Hochanda viewers last Saturday morning (20th May 2017) at the nice early time of 8am. There were obviously lots of you up though as we had plenty of orders and even sold out of our wooden embellishments!
It was quiet when we arrived at the studio and we had time to settle in and take some pics in the green room.
I had been on a training day the week before and they advised us not to wear stripes or all black/all white as it doesn’t come out well on camera, so I chose my Laura Ashley top and cardie to wear in muted colours.
After a short while the floor manager came to collect us and we were allowed to set up our display and bits for the demonstration in the studio.
James set up the background display, arranging the cards etc (and the lovely makes from Emily and Mags on our design team – thank you for sending your projects in <3), though shortly before we were on air we had to move sets as the bigger setup was required for the show after us who needed a lot more space for their display! The Hochanda team did a fab job setting up the ‘pack shot’ which is the setup the camera focuses on when we’re telling you about the items.
Presenter Charlie Hopkins described our products brilliantly, and I did two demonstrations to give viewers some ideas on how to use our products. Thank you to everyone that tuned in to watch!
I started off with a clean and simple style card, the one that I’d designed for the Mulberry Bush workshop earlier in May, as I knew I would be nervous and wanted something familiar to get me started.
I pre-cut the hexagon aperture, acetate window and back panel so I didn’t need to handle the die-cutting on screen. I began by stamping the front, and then moved to the inside of the card to make the shaker element (though I think I will use double sided tape next time as the glue took a little while to dry and kept moving about!) and then finished off the front of the card with a couple of stamped bees and a stamped sentiment.
It has a stamped hexagon background, some layered strips of paper, and then a gold heat-embossed hexagon with a little wooden honey jar on top. I used the neon sequins on this card as I wanted to show how they can really make a card pop with a modern design.
Overall I really enjoyed myself once my nerves went away after a few minutes, and I would definitely do it again. Our bestselling items were the wooden embellishments, followed by the stamp set, paper packs and then sequins (I know sequins aren’t everyone’s type of thing but I just love them!
