Handmade Father’s Day Card IdeasFather’s Day Boat Card
If you’re looking for some quick and easy handmade Father’s Day card ideas you’ve come to the right place! Handmade Father’s Day cards are a lovely idea, but if if you’re anything like me you probably find male cards difficult to make. In this blog post I want to give you a few ideas using our StickerKitten card kits.
To make this boat card, you’ll need the Seaside Dreams Card Kit, £17.
Step 1: Place the card blank on the grey cloud paper and draw round it to get the right size. Cut out the square just a little smaller than the line you drew (in order to create a white border on the card). Glue the paper to the card.
Step 2: Cut out the blue wave paper to about a third of the card height and cut along the wave at the top. Add to the card with foam adhesive pads (included in the kit).
Step 3: Glue on the ephemera (card toppers). The lighthouse is tucked behind the waves, the boat and sentiment are glued on top, and the cloud is cut in half and used on both sides.
Super simple! This card will take 5–10 minutes to create.
Seagull Card for Dad
Again using the Seaside Dreams Card Kit you can make this simple and cheerful card for dad!
Step 1: Draw round the card blank to get the right size for the dark blue cloud paper and cut it out just inside the lines to leave a white border. Glue the paper to the card blank.
Step 2: Draw round something circular to create the second layer. I used a roll of tape. The bottom of a mug would also work. Cut out the circle and glue it to the card.
Step 3: Add the ephemera. Glue the clouds and sunshine to the circle, then add the wooden post, seagull and ‘dad’ sentiment with foam pads.
Seaside Cardmaking Kit
The Seaside Dreams Card Kit is perfect for Father’s Day cards but also useful for other occasions such as birthdays, thank yous, thinking of you and more. The kit comes with:
1 x Seaside Dreams paper pack (6×6″, 30 sheets)
1 x Seaside Dreams ephemera pack (34 pieces)
1 x Everyday Sentiments ephemera pack (68 pieces)
4 x four inch square card blanks
4 x envelopes
1 x sheet foam squares
You just need to find scissors, glue and a pencil and you’re all set.
As well as ‘Dad’ and ‘Happy Father’s Day’ the sentiments pack also includes Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Son and Grandson so you can use any of these to make up the kit cards or save them to use on future cards.
The good thing about this kit is that it’s a starter pack – you’ll have loads of paper and toppers left over for more cards. You just need to top up on card blanks and envelopes which you can get from your local craft shop.
Vehicles Cards
If seaside isn’t the right theme for you, you might like to have a go at creating some Father’s Day cards with our Vehicles range.
This Vehicles card kit (£13.50) comes with lots of different designs of vehicles including police car, fire engine, ambulance, construction vehicles (digger, concrete mixer and tipper truck), red London bus, small cars, race car, sports car and van.
Just like the Seaside kit, you can create quick and simple cards with this kit too.
To get the ‘Father’s Day’ and ‘Dad’ sentiments for this kit you’ll need to get the Everyday Sentiments pack separately (£4.50).
Finishing Touches
To finish off your handmade cards it can also be fun to seal the envelopes with a sticker related to the kind of card you’ve made.
As well as a practical use in helping keep the envelope closed if your card is bulky, a sticker that matches the theme will help the recipient feel like you’ve thought carefully about their card and how it’s presented to them.
