Hello! Welcome! Samantha here – Today I would like to share a set of three cards I created using StickerKitten’s Unicorn Fairground Collection Box. I’ve thoroughly loved using this box – I’ve managed to create nine cards all up since its release and I’m still playing with ideas to create more cards in hopes to use up all the paper and wooden embellishments in this kit. My three cards today play on a technique called paper weaving. I have however, added my own flair to this technique by weaving my paper loosely and adding stitched details and sequins.
You will need

White/Light Pink/Light Purple Cardstock
Twine
Sewing Machine
Versafine Clair Morning Mist Ink

Tape Runner/Gluedots/Foam Tape

Instructions
Step 1: Cut thin 1 cm strips using 2 sheets of Unicorn Fairground pattern paper.
Step 2: Place the first set of strips horizontally (in rows) on your craft mat and weave the second strips of pattern paper vertically, going under and over the first strip on your craft mat.
Step 3: Loosely weave all the paper strips in an alternating pattern until your paper weave is full.
Tip: I adhered the first row to help keep the paper in place as I weaved each strip.
Step 4: Adhere paper weave to your card front (Card front measurements: 10.5 cm x 15. cm). Trim off edges as desired.
Note: My final weave measurement was roughly 8 cm x 8 cm – this would vary depending on how tight or loose your completed weave is.
Step 5: Adhere star sequins then add machine stitched detail (Optional).
Step 6: Stamp sentiment and add unicorn ephemera using foam tape.
Step 7: Adhere card front to C6 Card base. Embellish with a twine bow add glitter to unicorn ephemera.
Below are two more card examples using strips of pattern paper to create a playful background.
If you haven’t attempted weaving paper I recommend giving it a try. It’s a great way to use pattern paper and a fun technique to apply to your cards. There are plenty of resources available on Pinterest and YouTube if you wanted to learn more about this technique.
